Science and religion

Science and religion both have meaningful values, but will always be at odds. Science is based on concrete evidence and facts. Evidence and facts are tested until proven reliable and true. It is also a naturalistic process and can only answer questions about what is inside nature. Beyond that is a matter based on a person's religious beliefs. Some beliefs offer a level of understanding that is not offered anywhere else. There are many different beliefs concerning science and religion that makes us think that the two will never reconcil. For example, scientific facts and a religious person's belief about evolution are totally opposite. No matter what the future holds for us, there will always be some kind of conflict between the two.

Though science is based on facts, scientists have been known at times to draw conclusions based on faulty or incomplete evidence. (Not saying all scientist are liars or untrustworthy, just that their findings aren't always credible or absolute.)By the way, most scientist will tell you themselves that this is all too often the reality.

Ever heard the word 'theory' in connection to science? How about 'hypothesis'? These are conclusions drawn using available evidence - emphasis on 'available'. Sometimes they are simply conjecture put forth as theory. At times, in the past, and even now, an entire system of thought has been built upon a 'might have been' with no evidence at all to uphold it.

Every day there are new discoveries that either support or disprove positions previously held by the scientific community. But even though we are continually making progress in learning about the world around us, we will probably never have all the answers. But, who knows? Maybe we don't need to find all the answers about where we came from or how the world began - maybe we already have them.

This was a good point of view but you can't really rule out that all religions disagree with evolution. Our research topic, Islam, believed in evolution to a certain extent. They believe in like the Big Bang Theory and how the world began. Basically the only thing they didnt believe in that deals with evolution is people. They believed that humans were special and that they were each specially made.

There will always been different opinions of people and how they believe. I agree that there will always be conflict between science and religion because of this.

This was an interesting read. I believe that all things evolved into what they are today. Not humans coming from monkeys, but the idea that things must evolve, or adapt, to survive. Great ideas and great interpretation.

I agree that science and religion have alot to do with each other. In many ways science some religious background even though there is no actual evidence but overall it was good opinion answers.

I think this group did a good job. I believe it may could have been a little longer. I saw tons of information on this when I was looking over the different religions. The topic is very interesting thought and I'm glad your group chose it. I believe science will always be really closely connected to religion.

I disagree with yalls comment. I believe God will one day explain to us how everything comes together and one day science and religion will come together and everything will make much more sense.

This group makes a good point. Both science and religion do disagree. The fact of the matter is that scientist can only know what God wants them to know. Therefore, they will have to be on different pages until the end of time and maybe if they believe in God they can ask Him for all the information that they could not get while they were on the earth.

I think this was a VERY interesting topic. It seems, to me, that scientists are always trying to find things that disagree with the Bible. I, too, am a Southern Baptist, and I think that people should be trying to prove the Bible. I believe in what the Bible says, but some people need concrete evidence.

there is always going to be some sort of conflict between religion and science. I myself am a Christian, but I know that I cannot deny the fact that evolution IS real and has happened. It's an interesting topic of discussion. And, like Robin said, I don't think we should have all the answers to know what really happened.

I think that this group did a good job. They answered the question from a different point of view rather than just from their own religious beliefs. I also agree with Kyle, that there will always be disagreements dealing with science and religion. As a christian I believe the Bible is our proof of creation. The scriptures our my facts, but people all believe different things and that was the point of this project(to answer the question through another persons perspective). I believe that the theories that leave out God maybe could be based on what and who they believe in.

I also think that we should not know all the answers about how things happened. Like Jan said, we only need to know the infomation that God wants us to know and find out the rest later.

I agree that there will always be conflict between science and religion. In my opinion, they are two totally different things. I am a christian and I believe EVERYTHING the Bible says. Science is just what different have tryed to figure out. Sure, science can be proven better than the Bible, but I have faith and would rather have my religion that science anyday. It doesn't matter what people try to do or prove, science and religion will never be the same.

Science and religion will always have conflict between the two. Yhe are totally different. Science is based what people have proven. Relgion is based on facts of what God told us in the Bible. I believe that there will always be conflict between the two.

I just have one more thing to add: evolution has NEVER been proven - there isn't a single shred of evidence to prove it ever happened. Its one of those "might have beens". If some evidence could be brought forward it may be a little more believable. As it is, they have no more scientific proof than those who believe in God. Neither one of us have absolute visible proof - We both have faith.
