Robin, Kristin, and Brian have chosen the 9th circle (Treachery).
Canto VII, Circle 4: Hoarders and Wasters
In this circle Dante and Virgil enter to see two groups that are seperated by a heavy weight. The two groups are hoarders and wasters. A hoarder is defined as someone who gathers and stores and a waster is someone who wastes or does not use wisely. These two groups are to spend their eternity in circle four. Seperating the two groups is a large heavy weight the hoarders push the stone at the wasters screaming "Why do you waste?" and the wasters push the stone back screaming "Why do you hoard?" the continue this over and over. This punishment was chosen because in Dante's viewpoint they did not understand the true value of money and it meant nothing to them so they are forever plauged by dead weight. The priests, popes, and cardinals heads are shaved oddly because their minds were corrupted and distorted while they were alive.
The Christian influences in this epic are that they are not able to rest, as in the Bible and other people are unrecognizable which is also in the Bible.
